Sage Technology Solutions, Inc., is currently seeking a Telephone Systems Engineer focused on deployment and support of VoIP and UC solutions. This person will work hands-on with traditional voice solutions as well as the latest VoIP, UC, and SIP technologies. They will also be responsible for some design and implementation of the associated network infrastructure needed to support installed systems. Field tasks include install, diagnose and troubleshoot phone systems, and client data network equipment. This person will perform a varied range of services, from network consulting, to complete installations with minimal or no supervision.

Duties and responsibilities:

Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on Key and VoIP phone systems.
Possess thorough knowledge and experience, testing, troubleshooting, cutting over, and turning up of phone lines, PRI’s, voice and data T-1’s, Trunks, SIP and integrated circuits.
Troubleshoot telephone systems hardware/software, voicemail, and telephone set/feature issues both on site and remotely. Install and test.
Acts as a network consultant to evaluate a customer’s current voice network architecture, capabilities, and business operations to provide the appropriate technical recommendations.
Participates in the routine design, planning and integration of enterprise-wide communications network/systems.
Performs needs assessments, studies requirements, researches documentation, specifies components and parts, completes installation and performs acceptance tests.
Maintain a rapport with all customers by discussing and resolving issues, providing technical support, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques and recommending improvements.
Assists remote locations with hosted managed services testing and turn up to customer premise.
Assists in client training efforts as part of VoIP and UC system deployments and migrations
Participates in the continuous training program and maintains a working knowledge of all equipment.
Requires regular travel, with some occasional overnight travel possible.
Flexible schedule to work some 2nd shift hours.
Provide occasional on-call service in rotation after normal business hours for installations and maintenance.

Experience required:

3 -5 years of related telecommunications experience.
Mitel experience & training certifications required.
Knowledge of VoIP, networks, and data.
Experience resolving complex LAN/WAN issues.
Working knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems.
Working knowledge of VMWare and Hyper-V
Working knowledge of Virtual Private Networks
Working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
Industry & vendor certifications from ShoreTel/Mitel, Avaya, Cisco, or other manufacturers preferred.
Industry certifications such as an MSCA, CCNA are desirable.
5+ years of experience the IT or networking industry, with a focus on the deployment of VoIP and Unified Communications (UC) solutions.
LAN design, configuration and maintenance experience.
PSTN & IP trunking services (POTS, T1, ISDN, SIP) experience.
Familiarity with the premise-based telephony equipment & solutions (traditional & IP).
Configuration and management of hosted voice & Unified Communications (UC) Solutions.
Installation and configuration of Media Gateways (MG) & Analog Terminal Adapters (ATA).
Working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, ARP, UDP, TCP, H323, SIP & MGCP protocols.
Strong analytical skills to assist in the resolution of complex issues.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR that meets company insurance standards.


SAGE is seeking experienced individuals to join our technical team as full-time Communications Systems / AV and IT Technicians. Primary duties include installing, networking, programming and maintaining Audio Visual, Access Control, CCTV, Nurse Call, video, AV control and other communications systems in Central and Eastern PA.

The position requires technical knowledge, an electronics background, a solid skillset and foundation with security or communication systems, pro-AV or information technology in a variety of settings. 2-5 years of direct experience with communication systems installations. Industry certifications and formalized manufacturer training a benefit.

Access Control, CCTV, CATV, Crestron, Extron, Infocomm, Telecommunications, Wireless, IP and/or networking experience a must.

This position reports to the Operations Manager.
